Phil brought his Porsche Targa back for an upgrade.
He loved the way the Memphis MClass speakers sounded (who wouldn't) but he wanted more.
Being that it's a sudo-convertible, adding an amp to boost the speakers to a higher, crisper,
un-distorted sound is the next step.
Naturally, the Porsche would only get the best....so we threw in an MClass 4 channel Amp (MC4.50) This is giving the speakers 50 watts at minimum to power through the road noise and wind.
This is exactly what the Targa needed....but I'm thinking he might be back to add a sub :) :)

While I was in there, he asked me to take a look at the 'stock-ish' alarm that was installed...giving him sporadic false alarms throughout the night. I located the 'brain' back in a cubby hole, un-zip tied and just rattling around....Phil no longer has the remotes for it, and the
company has long been out of business. So I yanked that and a bunch of other wires that were just chilling in the boot, attached to the fuse block and battery....but to nothing else.

So....moral of the story....if you want really good sound and your car needs to lose some (wire) weight.....Come to Trax Customs :)

El Hefe Phil needed some new speakers in his 1984 Porsche Targa 911.
He wanted something better than what he had currently, which was aftermarket audio, but it was old and busted....so we go with new hotness.
Only thing on this one was that old busted was pretty gnarly.  This was easily the biggest set of aftermarket speakers I've pulled out of a car.....and I'm pretty sure they are home audo speakers.  The stock door woofers were Pyle, but they were 4-point mountable, which tells me they may be home audio (not an expert) but based on the size of these hugeantic (it's a word) woofers, old school crossovers and 3" diameter tweeters; it's easy to tell that someone pulled these out of a loaded bookshelf speaker setup.  The downside to this is that since the woofers were massive, they had to cut the door....which made it nearly impossible to mount real car audio speakers in the door.  After some plastic plate magic, I got the door speakers secured perfectly.

Old Busted - Pyle Woofer, MTX Crossover, Unknown Tweeter
New Hotness - Memphis Audio MClass 6.5" Component kit (seperate crossover)

The reason we didn't go with a component speaker setup is because the owner didn't think they were tweeters.....since it's an 84, and ze Germans designed things weird back then, i can see why this happened....unfortunately, component speakers would have sounded better, but oh well....we move on.

The rears were simple....remove old (pretty good condition Eclipse speakers) and replace with much better MClass speakers.

Even though the fronts were massive, these MClass woofers simply CRUSH them in the sound department.....there is a night and day difference in the sound this thing has now.  I've never heard a pair of MClass speakers that I didn't like.....it's why I have a pair of their Syncro Components in my shop setup!!

Cheers!!

Trax now has a new truck in the lineup.
1990 Chevy CK1500 Singel Cab Short Bed Step Side
Got it for winter driving and haulin' stuff.

Plans thus far:
Re-paint
Tint
De-Badge
Custom lighting all the way around
Swap interior color from blue to black/grey
Full Audio Demo Build

Rag finally gave in and wanted some 'different' type of lighting other than HIDs.

Cool White side emitting LEDs were installed and wired up to a switch that is independent from the lighting system...so they can be on with the lights or without...perfect for dusk driving!

Cheers!

Not really sure on the name yet, but I'll work.

Got a 2007 Dodge Caliber that is getting some serious lighting upgrades.
Owner originally purchased some eBay headlights and as 90% of them do, they started leaking.  We agreed that projector retrofitting was the best thing to do.
Also, we'll be doing a few (haha) lights on the interior.

So here we go:

Mini H1 Bi-Xenon Projectors
Morimoto 35ive watt HID bulbs and ballasts
Gatlin Gun v2.0 Shrouds with Halo's behind them
Audi-inspired LED lighting
Amber 30 LED park/turn signal bulbs
150 LEDs inside throughout the floor and cabin (red)

The only snag so far is that the Dodge electrical system is CAN-BUS....which basically means "No, you can't put anything aftermarket on here, because we're an awesome technological company".  So the last picture if of my 3 failed attempts at bypassing this.....on to the next one I guess!

Cheers!!

Owner didn't like the look of actually seeing the source of the light in the headlight bucket.
Problem.........

Answer........remove and replace with LEDs.....DUH!
Stock bulb is in there until owner replaces with a smaller, low profile bulb that is clear and not so huge.  Light perfectly fills headlight bucket, isn't too bright and is exactly what the owner was wanting.

These lights are only on when he pulls the 'light stick' out one click.....and they shut off when the headlights are turned on.  His turn signals are the little cones above the headlight bucket...so purely ICE lights....

Looked sick driving away at night.  Last pic is with lights on...camera made the others fairly brighter than they actually are.

On to the next one!!

So the surprise for Steven was the rims.....they were old and busted....so we made them new hotness.  Stripped them down to nothing...sanded them, then primer/single stage/hand painted logo and pin striped them.  Turned out good for a 4 hour paint session.  Everyone at the shop was helping on this one.....even the lady got in on the action with mixing the paint that we all hand-painted.  Overall, I think it completes the car.....even got a compliment on the car today as it was sitting outside.

After that, I got all the LEDs wired up in the trunk.  I also took the rear bumper off and attempted to sound deaden that....it's much better now that before...but since it was broken in one spot.....that tends to chatter a bit.....I'm still not done with that, but more later.

Other than a few odds and ends, Memphry is another one for the books.....donezo!!!!
I love driving this thing, as the sound is perfect....crisp highs and rediculous lows.....makes me wish I had a trunk!
