Those who know me know how much I dig electronics (obviously).
Well, no matter where I've moved or what has happened with my living situation, my entertainment stand and electronics are ALWAYS the first items to be installed in a new room. Back in November I found myself WITHOUT a stand or anything.....i was literally watching TV as it was propped up on a subwoofer box I had laying around.....NOT GOOD.
So, I started looking around for a more modern stand and couldn't find anything that fit my budget and looked unique.....so I started planning out a design and put my new toy to work....my welder!
I've only welded a few things in the past, and this one would be a fairly larger product that had to hold weight as well as look good. I planned this to hold a BIGGER TV in the future.
The only thing I didn't make on this one was the spider web gussets. Found a supplier in Florida that makes them CHEAP....cheaper than I could make them myself.
Started measuring and cutting then welding....a few of the design elements were modified on the fly, but I pretty much stuck to my plan.
Once everything was welded and ground down to 'pretty damned decent' a few coats of Roll Cage Gloss Paint were applied.
Next was the top....I wanted something unique here too, so I did 3/4" plexiglas...which is FRICKEN expensive and blew my budget out of the water...but hey, if you're gonna do it, do it ridiculously extreme the first time!
I beveled the edges, added my logo in reverse metallic silver and then painted the bottom black.....so it has a Piano Black look, while the entire surface is clear.
I then added some strips of BLUE LEDs to the backside and placed them on a wireless keyfob setup so I can wirelessly turn them on and make the strobe and what not....because.....what's better than having a seizure when you're watching Braveheart!
