Jeep Cherokee - Video System Upgrade

Had a good buddy of mine in need of a video upgrade on his Jeep Cherokee.
He's a Real Estate salesman and wanted to step up his 'presentation' when showing clients around....he already had a nice ride but the Entertainment and Presentation side of the interior was lacking....what better way to step it up than add a DVD player with Mirror Link so he can have legit navigation and bluetooth controls. He also wanted to add a little 'travel time help' for his kiddos by adding some rear entertainment screens.
We did a JVC DVD Player with Bluetooth, MirrorLink, USB and Aux inputs and dual 9" Headrest monitors in the rear. I had to bypass the active headrest system (if a rear impact occurs, the headrest move out 2") and this was the first time i've encountered this....but the bypass went off without a flaw....so replacing them was not an issue

Crown Vic gets some bling in the dash

Had a customer come in with a Crown Victoria and a Pioneer AVIC-903BT.
Solid little unit, and he plans to use it to it's full potential.
He has an iPod with a stash of music and videos....we the aux inputs will be on most of the time.

These cars aren't meant to have DDin units installed in them, but after a little Dremel action, she fit just fine.
Got the factory DVD viewing disabled, so he can watch his DVDs, iPod video and enter navigation changes while on the move. After some troubleshooting, we figured out that he would need the Pioneer suggested ipod cable so he can watch videos from his iPod....other than that, simple install.

Nissa Xterra Install

Twas another chilly morning...but that never stops me.
It was a nice warm 46 degrees in the shop....so I put the heaters to work as I started in on this one.

Customer had an existing Pioneer AVIC-X930BT DVD player and wanted to add a subwoofer and backup camera for better low end sound; as well as bypass the Pioneer's Safety setting to allow video playback whilst driving.

Customer choose the JL Audio Stealthbox, made specifically for his Nissan; which fit almost perfectly like it would stock. This was pushed by a 300/1 mono block JL Audio digital amp.
I ninja mounted the amp under the rear cargo area floor, so it's outta sight outta mind....and he can throw anything back there and not worry about damaging anything.

Mounted the backup camera flush mount style on the rear bumber.....only went through 3 hole saw bits and 30 mins of dremeling to get this baby mounted....but she's in there now.

So Ryan left over the weekend...which allowed me to have the truck.

Round 1 of installs went like this:

JVC DVD/Navigation/HD Radio/Bluetooth/USB Reciever
Bluetooth Mic installed in Gauge Cluster (so you don't look like you are yelling at the top of your windshield)
Satellite Radio installed to reciever
Backup Camera installed near hitch reciever.

Ryan has previously been painting EVERYTHING on his truck two-toned black (new limo black, that has some candy in it). So the middle console area was taped off and painted as well.

Late Night DVD player installation

Been trying to knock out a bunch of projects, as well as keep up with the day-to-day jobs that come in.

Had a friend of a friend come in with a 2005 GMC Sierra pickup.
Wants a DVD player with iPod controls, Bluetooth, Satellite Radio, steering wheel controls and DVD Playback bypass.
Enter the Clarion VX400 coupled with a Sirius Satellite Radio tuner and a PAC steering wheel control interface.
This was a pretty simple install, just alot of wires to be fitted into the dash. After a little weight loss therapy (see last photo below) the DVD Player and all the components fit like a glove!!

Pioneer AVIC-X930BT Bypass, Troubleshoot and Install

Had a customer come in with a AVIC unit that wasn't cooperating...so I decided to assist.
After an hour of troubleshooting, came to the conclusion that the Scosche module to help integrate an aftermarket unit into the stock system was bad. So I informed the customer that I can hardwire it in, but he'll lose the ability to hear his turn signals and chimes throughout the vehicle. Since he was cool with that, we went forward with the install. Once the deck was up and running, we installed the included Bluetooth mic up in the A-Pillar, facing the driver; as well as mounted the included GPS antenna for the built in Navigation up on the dash.

Bypass the X930BT so that it will play video while the unit is in motion. Standard 'ground the parking brake wire' doesn't work with these new units, so you have to figure out how to bypass it AND trick it to think that you AREN'T driving when you really are.....ahh the joy's of electronics!

Customer was happy, install looked great....and...the best part..I got to use my Credit Card app on my Droid......BEST PURCHASE EVER......I can now accept charges with Credit Cards, using my smartphone....it's amazing! Full blown business now.
