Old School Porsche gets New School Sound 02/08/2012
El Hefe Phil needed some new speakers in his 1984 Porsche Targa 911. He wanted something better than what he had currently, which was aftermarket audio, but it was old and busted....so we go with new hotness. Only thing on this one was that old busted was pretty gnarly. This was easily the biggest set of aftermarket speakers I've pulled out of a car.....and I'm pretty sure they are home audo speakers. The stock door woofers were Pyle, but they were 4-point mountable, which tells me they may be home audio (not an expert) but based on the size of these hugeantic (it's a word) woofers, old school crossovers and 3" diameter tweeters; it's easy to tell that someone pulled these out of a loaded bookshelf speaker setup. The downside to this is that since the woofers were massive, they had to cut the door....which made it nearly impossible to mount real car audio speakers in the door. After some plastic plate magic, I got the door speakers secured perfectly. Old Busted - Pyle Woofer, MTX Crossover, Unknown Tweeter New Hotness - Memphis Audio MClass 6.5" Component kit (seperate crossover) The reason we didn't go with a component speaker setup is because the owner didn't think they were tweeters.....since it's an 84, and ze Germans designed things weird back then, i can see why this happened....unfortunately, component speakers would have sounded better, but oh well....we move on. The rears were simple....remove old (pretty good condition Eclipse speakers) and replace with much better MClass speakers. Even though the fronts were massive, these MClass woofers simply CRUSH them in the sound department.....there is a night and day difference in the sound this thing has now. I've never heard a pair of MClass speakers that I didn't like.....it's why I have a pair of their Syncro Components in my shop setup!! Cheers!! Add Comment Throwin' some red down on pair of MC-Rs 02/07/2012
Had to take some extra care with these MC-R shrouds that cover the FX-R projectors I'm retrofitting into these Solsti lights. These are a newer-ish shroud that I have yet to install, so I'm pretty stoked for the outcome. The Halo will sit behind the oval cutouts and will give a nice even glow due to the frosted plexi lens in between. Waiting for them to set and I'll have these back together in no time. FM Mod wired into a Pilot 02/05/2012
Had a returning cusotomer that wanted a way for his wife to use her iPod/iPhone in her Honda Pilot, using the stock radio....unfortunately, this Pilot was completely decked out from the manufacturer, so we couldn't use any of the cool products out there that let you integrate the right way....so we had to go with a wired FM Modulator...which, in the end, sounded amazing! Corolla gets some Audi LED love 02/05/2012

Bypassed the video lock-out feature with a relay so customer doesn't have to keep flicking a switch to bypass everytime. Solstice Retrofit Progress Report.....Paint 02/02/2012
