Painter Ryan finally got his rear end all mocked up, welded, bolted and in....bolted the motor up, squeezed the tires under and pulled the rear axle jack stands for the first time in a few months.....here is what we have!! Sick low stance, about 3" frame clearance, with a bit more to go...fully adjustable ride height.....and front still needs to be lowered....should be only a week or so before she's ready to hit the road!
After a few hours I finished the trunk and trunk lid...which completed the sound deadening (minus the inside of the door panels, once I get the subs going).
So I figured since I was stuck in the trunk, I might as well wire up a thin LED strip to replace the cargo light in the trunk......thing is BRIGHT, that and the dome light, all reflecting off the sound deadener was a pretty cool sight.
Got alot of sound deadening done this weekend.
Used about 4 cans of spray foam to make sure every little nook and cranny would be filled.
Ceiling is done......recieved 2 layers of deadener, along with some foam to fill any holes I couldn't get to, as well as 6" compressible insulation between the frame rails so it won't lose too much heat/cold......Ceiling is bulletproof now!
Rear doors got some attention as well, even though they don't have speakers in them, it's a good idea to get them, as they will rattle as well.
Rear decklid got it's first layer down, and I'll put more on once the speakers go in.
Got the dome lights reqired to fit two PCB boards...now we're really bright
Next up is the trunk and trunk lid
Didn't have alot of time tonight, but i got everything else stripped off the car and now she's ready to be stripped of her old, faded tint and have some new 15% put on....then back to sound deadening.
Got all the products in for these special taillights. 103 LEDs in all....that should be bright enough......after this, I have another set for a Saturn Sky to do....then most likely more once these hit the interwebs!!
Lights came in and got everything installed.
R8 Style lights look good, but I'm digging the hood scoop lighting more..I think it's an awesome way to accent something that was existing.
Accord finally got some time to come back in and get it's new lights put on and wired up.
Made custom LED corner lights that are 'running lights'.....completely blacked out, no chrome left.
Also made custom LED turn signals, completely blacked out, with built in flasher relays.
Once everything was installed, customer had the 'itch' for more LEDs, so I swapped out his dome light with some of my new LED PCB boards...interior is nicely lit up now.
During the downtime of waiting for USPS to ultimately fail, I pulled Project Memphry into the shop and put it on a diet.
Completely stripped the interior and started sound deadening what I think is going to rattle....which will be pretty much everything seeing as how there will be over 2500 watts in this bad boy. Doors are done and now that I finally got the roof scrapped off (never doing that again) I can start on the roof and move to the back decklid and rear doors. Once I get everything deadened, I'll get the tint taken care of, since it will be easier with the door panels removed. Also, since the cieling was out, I decided to try out the roof lighting with the new LEDs.....one was gnarly bright...but we'll do two, since that's what we do...till next time
Had a customer with an 07 Tacoma want to add some pretty cool auxillary lighting to the exterior of his truck.
Got everything pre-wired and sat for 4 hours waiting for USPS to show up...when they did...they didn't have what was supposed to be there....so the truck will be getting it's lights soon....not soon enough though....so until next time
Got a deal I couldn't pass up.....so Project Memphry is getting some light!! Some light is actually an understatement. These little LED boards are crazy bright....should do the trick!!
Got a 1996 Dodge Ram Van, putting in a 15" dropdown overhead video screen and dvd player. Kept the stock cassette player, so I wired in an iSimple FM Modulator....everything sounded great and looked very good.
Family member got a new vehicle, so we had to start throwing new electronics at it.
New JVC Touchscreen DVD player with bluetooth, iPod, aux and a boatload of other options. Sat Radio is temporarily mounted on dash (will be getting a hidden unit soon).
After a few more coats of the texture/bedliner paint, the box is done and looking good. Installed the woofer and terminal cup and we're good to go.....now just need to schedule a time to finish the install (hopefully when it's nice outside so I don't have to use my heater again!
Got some time to sand and put a few coats of bedliner texture paint down.
Was going to do just to hard to reach areas with the spray on texture, but the coat layed down so well that I think I'll finish like this....such a good texture finish.
Got a quick video together for the client to take a look at before I order parts.
LEDs are just sitting in the housings...so aiming is a bit off...anyways
Sequence in video is:
Lights Off - Brake On
Lights On - Brake On
So the painter and I sat there wondering what we should attempt to get done first....hood dent or front bumper...as the show is only 2 days away. Well, we ground down the hood dent and I removed the bumper...so we're in it to win it....first 2 pics show our attempt at covering up the dent (ha). Solsti's been sanded down, all the chips and holes have been filled, she's primered and ready for some paint this morning! Most outrageous hot rods that go to these shows are farther along than this 2 days before a show....so we'll be cutting it close!!
Finally getting back to these bad boys after nearly 6 months!
Tooks some random shots for the owner to see what he thinks...so i'll post them here as well.
Got some time to knock out some body work on the Brew Hauls center console.
Everything sealed up, did a test fit on the woofer and play some tunes to it (should pound nicely in the truck) and now it's ready for paint....more to come on this soon.
Since the Roadster show is coming up, I thought it'd take care of some things on car so she's show ready.
My sub amp was fine, but didn't match my new 4 channel amp....so I get a new one and made a new amp rack cover....looking all better now!
Here is our painters bus....getting a custom trim job done on the suspension.
It's sitting on it's brake drums right now, but when it's all said and done, it will only be 3" higher than this. We'll be redoing all the electrical work on this and possibly upgrading the lighting throughout.
