Customer was happy with headlights...so I got them sealed up, waterproofed and wrapped back up in their boxes. Will ship on Monday.
Fun project....ready for another one Got another Solstice in that wants an Advanced Retrofit.
This one will be recieving: FX-R Hybrid Projectors, modified to get the best possible light output CCFL Halo's behind Shroud MC-R Shroud custom painted Red Internal Parts Painted Black Headlight Lens Buffed and Cut Got some time with them tonight...opened them, sized them up, cut some plastic, set the projector in for a test fit. Tomorrow I'll get them on the car, aligned and set permanently and we'll be good to start painting.... Got these things ready to ship out.
Converted the stock DRL area over to a 'fake projector' look, blacked everything out, added dual Demon Eye accent lighting as well as Dual Halo Accent lighting. Lots of work. Got some WRX headlights that needed some 'darkness' in their lives.
Opened up really easy, paint went on very easy, and assembly as easy. I even threw in a free cut-n-buff on the outter lens to get rid of the smoked cover and yellow haze that had developed over the years. I new this would improve the headlights performance at night, as well as make the black pop more. Got everything ready for assembly tonight
Taped off the halo's to give them that aggressive look and painted them. Also got the fake projector setup all assembled and ready to go for tomorrow's final throw down. Got to start these finally....have had them for awhile, just been doing too many projects that cuase alot of dust in the shop....luckily customer doesn't not need them right away.
Got them seperated, figured out the plan and went to action. What's the plan: Dual Projector Conversion DRL Area LED Conversion Dual Demon Eye Accent Lighting Dual CCFL Halo Accent Lighting Murdering the chrome and everything else Hardest part so far has been setting up the DRL area for a projector shroud and lens; as well as fitting the stock projector area with a 90mm ccfl halo ring......dremel wizardry got me through this one. Once everything dries in this cold weather we're having, I can start assembling everything and get these sealed up and on their way back to the mid east-ish. Had a customer come in with his wife's headlights and he wanted them blacked out (for the most part) to match the theme she's got going on already.
Only problem with these is that the headlights on most newer GM vehicles are all perma-seal. Which means I have to deal with each headlight, individually for about an hour and a half just to get them open and able to seal again. (see picture below) After I got them apart, and my muscles recovered, I painted all the chrome parts, except where needed to product light. Sealed them up and they are out the door. Finished these up for a customer in Brazil.
His overall goal was to get these to look one-off, and unique...as well as have them look like an 'eye' at night......I think we accomplished that. I'll throw all these photos over to the new 2012 projects page!! Cheers Have a client that's in the military that sent me his Mitsubishi Evolution X projector headlights.
These lights do give a pretty good beam from stock....but customer didn't want to upgrade projectors.....he just wanted some custom headlights to go with his already stellar whip. This is all I got done in the 30 mins I had available tonight. These are getting a Fake Dual Projector Look, Blacked out with Dual Halos and Demon eyes.....should be pretty cool once I'm done. Till the next update. Got a GMC Arcadia Stock Halogen Projector Headlamp FO FREE!!! (no waffle fries though)
Just one side...so now I have an extra Valeo Low Beam and High Beam Projector.....might put them in Project BaggedXelem....you never know. Anywho....these were a PAIN to open, I think because they had been sitting, without a seal on the back of them, so the glue was just shot.....so I had to cut the lens off.....no biggy since I only wanted the projectors. Anyways.......gotta love me some freebies! Project Caliberight came back for even MORE HID lighting.
Wanted his fogs to get in on the action. Installed an 8000k HID kit to offset all the white he's got up top. Since they are in fog lights, which have small reflector bowls, the blue barely comes out and sets this Caliber off at night. Now he's got Low beam, High beam and fog beam HIDs....watch out if you see this thing at night....he'll see you, you might be blinded!!! (he's got projectors, so he's not going to blind you that bad) Had a return client bring in his new 2007 Subaru Outback for some HID additions.
He was used to the custom Bi-Xenon Projectors I retrofitted into his old ride, that he had to have the same output in his new ride. This is the only time it's really ok to put HIDs in a stock housing. When they have stock projectors. Output was same as stock, just brighter. No glare on low beam whatsoever. Installed our Digital High Intensity Discharge kit in both the low beam and high beam areas. hope you like Owner got around to snapping a pic of the headlights we did nearly a year ago and sent one my way. He still loves them and gets compliments all the time.
So....cheers! Past customer wanted to upgrade his lighting situation. He came to the right shop.
Existing provisions for the Ford were not present, so (since the bumper was dented anyways) we replaced it with an upgraded bumper with Foglight holes. Along with those, we added HID lighting in the fog lights as well as the headlights...so now he has Fogs, with HIDs, and his Hi/Low beams are also HIDs......PLEEENTY of lighting Since the fog lights weren't there from stock, I had to make a custom wire harness to power the additional lights, and I put an LED rocker (green) switch below the stock headlight switch to match the interior lighting. This way he have toggle on/off his fogs whenever he wants, and the highs won't shut them off, and he can drive solo with them on by themselves...pretty nifty. Cheers Rag finally gave in and wanted some 'different' type of lighting other than HIDs.
Cool White side emitting LEDs were installed and wired up to a switch that is independent from the lighting system...so they can be on with the lights or without...perfect for dusk driving! Cheers! Knocked this one out just in time to return to customer.
Thing looks sick at night....guess even the cops downtown commented on it :) :) Morimoto Bi-Xenon Projectors Morimoto 8000k HID bulbs Morimoto 35ive watt Ballasts Custom (re-wired) bi-xenon HID wire harness Gatlin Gun v2.0 Shrouds (left chrome) Stock headlight housings painted gloss black 90mm CCFL halo lighting behind gatlin shrouds Custom bypassed DRL system for the Dodge Caliber's CAN-BUS electrical system On-Off lighted switch inside for the Halo Lights 140 Red LED lights throught the interior Under Front Driver and Passenger feet Under Rear Driver and Passenger feet Custom mounted behind Custom brackets in the rear for cargo lighting On-Off lighted switch inside for these LEDs Lots of lights, lots of troubleshooting, lots of waiting on stuff to dry.....not alot of time!! Cheers! Got some time to open up the headlights that I'm repairing for a fellow Solsti owner.
The original retrofitter is somewhat popular online....and now I know how he does it....errr....kind of does it. "Goop stuff in the headlight, shove it in there, hold......hold.....set.....cover with cheap plastic....ship it back......change website address so you can't contact me when my products go bad" Good business model really! These photos are for the client, but this is a prime exampl of 'you get what you pay for'. Cheers! Owner didn't like the look of actually seeing the source of the light in the headlight bucket.
Problem......... Answer........remove and replace with LEDs.....DUH! Stock bulb is in there until owner replaces with a smaller, low profile bulb that is clear and not so huge. Light perfectly fills headlight bucket, isn't too bright and is exactly what the owner was wanting. These lights are only on when he pulls the 'light stick' out one click.....and they shut off when the headlights are turned on. His turn signals are the little cones above the headlight bucket...so purely ICE lights.... Looked sick driving away at night. Last pic is with lights on...camera made the others fairly brighter than they actually are. On to the next one!! So this project is a long story, but I'm helping out a fellow Solsti owner in California.
Shipped me these headlights he recieved from another owner and they were all jacked up. Had some spare time today, so I stripped the existing tint off the lights.....now on to the messed up chrome shroud that is 'melted' inside (another reason to go with Trax Customs when it comes to your lighting needs....we use the best of the best when it comes to products). So I'm helping out a fellow Solstice member....long story short, he got the short end of the stick (it was more of a handle that was offered to him and his end was a wet noodle) on an internet sale, and being that I do 20% of my business online, I hate these types of transactions (makes my job alot harder). So I offered my services to make things right.
I have a few things in front of this project, but I'll start busting them out quicker now that Memphry is almost completed. Things to do: Remove existing Tint from headlights Remove cheaply made chrome shroud Add shroud with material that can withstand heat putoff by HID lighting Add CCFL Halo lighting behind said shroud Reassemble and ship! Till then Got the shrouds painted to match the existing color scheme of the car...I think they look sick...and will look damn good on the car! Just need to seal the sides and we'll be good to go.
Got the majority of the stock pieces and panels back into the car...enough so that I could pull all three cars in..woot! I must say that with the back seats all in and the door jams covered...this things is pretty damned air tight....when you close a door and you're in the car, you can definitely tell it's sealed.....so all the sound dampening was worth it!! We'll see what happens when we give 2500 watts to two ported MOJO woofers!!! Speaker of that, I found a pic of the box when it was being constructed....but somehow the camera put a 'ripple' effect on it....so ya...kind of like a sneak peek shot.....I like it, so I left it! Cheers Got the battery isolator hooked up and running, so I figured I might as well bolt up the rear battery. Everything is secure, and I left plenty of wire to the battery if needed down the road. Don't want that 0ga wire to be too short if you every have to remove the battery and add a new one....who knows.......better to be safe than sorry!
As for the rest of the system in the rear...just need to start doing some wood work, cutting amp rack plates and we'll start getting some tunes going. Test fitted the projectors and made sure I like how they are going to sit in the headlights and in the car.....first test fit was spot on and only needed to raise one side.....not too shabby!!! These will look sick once done......black on black baby! Ballasts have been wired up and they are ready to go as well. Now all that's left is the shrouds need to be painted and then we're donezo. Only had about 20 minutes to work on the Camry tonight.....so I test fitted the headlights with the projectors to see how much modifications I'm going to have to do.....wasn't too bad...just knocked a couple of teeth off, and we're golden....next is paint (thinking of a cool theme to match the exterior of the car).
All the new goodies for the Uber light festival that's going to be happening in the front of the car showed up. We're doing:
New Crystal Euro Headlights with Bi-Xenon Projectors, 35 watt HID bulbs with Morimoto Ballasts New Crystal Euro Side Lights, smoked and throwing some LEDs in there to light up the night. Was sitting around and thought 'what the hell', and opened them up...so I'm 5 days ahead of schedule on the lights.....might as well throw some paint on them tomorrow and get them ready for the retro!
