Blacked out everything as usual
Smoked the DRL Covers
Full Red LED Demon Eyes with DRL accents
These definitely make a statement!

Every now and again I'll get a build I'm stoked for....this was one of them.
Here are the build items: Carbon Fiber Hydrographics RX350 Bi-Xenon Projectors tuned with Black Series Clear Lenses Osram CBI D2S Bulbs Morimoto Ballasts and Wiring Red LED Demon Eyes Porsche Panamera LED Shrouds with Custom LED Halo Upgrade Custom Fiberglass Back Patch These are what I should have on my car, being a retrofitter. These are considered VIP headlights in my opinion, because they are using the best of the best in projectors and bulbs...only thing that could be upgraded would be the ballasts to some Denso Quick-Fires. The RX350 projectors are fairly gnarly, in the fact that they are larger on the back end than most....so I had to make a fiberglass rear cover so make sure everything was water proof. These looked sick on my bench and even sicker on the customer car! This is the first set of headlights in the GMC Sierra platform I did for the local dealership we started hooking up.
So this was an introduction into the gnarly arm workout that are these Sierra Perma-Sealed headlights.....they are somewhat easy to work with...but SUUUUUUCK so bad to do....but that's what I'm know for, so i do it. These ones got a simple Paint Job, Amber Removal and RGB Demon Eyes...simple enough Customer brought in some halos he needed installed....so I busted them out for him within a few hours....done and done
When your new LED headlights are brighter than your 'light bar' and bumper 'light pods'....you then can start appreciating Quality-over-Quantity.
Did this somewhat simple upgrade on a very good friends Jeep. JW Speaker makes some of the best LED replacement headlights on the market...plus they just look badass! Hence, why I'm rockin' a set on Project Earl Grey! Teamed up with a Local Dealership here in town and we're starting to introduce truck owners to 'modified headlights'.
These were on a set of 'street edition' Dodge headlights and needed Blacked Out Paint with Red Demon Eyes...quick and simple! When a customer wants cool headlights....but doesn't want fully retrofitted one, I often modify eBay lights to give them best of both worlds.
These ones were 'shelf'd' for a while since they were a budget build...and well....I'm horrible at time-management! Either way, in the end...they turned out pretty badass....plus, linear light will never get old in my book....follow the lines and don't add light where there shouldn't be light, and you'll have a good look! A client that drives a ton was looking to upgrade his very nice WRX Impreza.
His fog lights were actually broken and he has a faulty stalk/switch inside....so I had trouble getting these to work from the get-go...but nonetheless, here is what went down: 35watt 5000k Morimoto Low Beam HID Kits 35watt 5000k Morimoto High Beam HID Kits 35watt 3000k Morimoto Fog Beam HID Kits New OEM Fog Light Housings Good buddy of mine brought in another set of GMC Sierra headlights to get that 'finishing' touch done.
This time, instead of just blacking out the internals, we added a simple Demon Eye mod to them....with some Active Blue LED Lighting for Show. This truck got some pretty sick Blue Accent lighting throughout as well....performed by the dealer/accessories Dept. Client brought in his truck for a 'quick' install before I realized it was going to be a much longer process.
Here is what he brought in: 35watt Morimoto 4300k Low Beam HIDs 55watt Morimoto 3000k Fog Light HIDs Morimoto MatchBox Mini Projectors for the Fog Lights Fog Light Housings Anzo Aftermarket Projectors Aftermarket LED Strip Lights (Switchback White and Amber) The HIDs were self explanatory...but the Fog Lights just don't simply 'go in'...I have to retrofit them......SOOOOOOO I installed a Heretic LED LITE-Series Light Bar instead and told him to bring the truck back when I get the fogs retrofitted. This thing was bright! My Neighbor is back for more.
I've previously retrofitting his headlights and DRL Housings with full HIDs and LED Swithcback Strips....but the bottom DRL housings were cheap aftermarket ones and the rear geotextile patches failed on both...so they caused water intrusion and made them look like SH!T. Soooo....when I fix things, I offer upgrades.....this one involved adding 4 high powered DRL LED Pods from Morimoto...and WOW....these guys are bright. Luckily his DRLs are only on during the day...but since they are 4.5' off the ground, i'd recommend steering clear of this truck during the day..or you'll be temporarily blinded! Sorry Not Sorry. Hooked up with another dealership here in town to offer my lighting services.
Knocked out a few installs for them before I headed to SEMA in Las Vegas. These were both similar: 35watt 6000k Morimoto HID Low Beams (high beams are Bi-Xenon projectors) 35watt 6000k Morimoto HID Fog Light Beams Everything had Morimoto Elite Wiring which is simply the best in the industry, along with necessary electrical components to play nice with GMCs electrical monitoring systems. A local client brought in his Mitsubishi Lancer for a headlight upgrade.
He wanted the look of dual projectors and had ordered a set of aftermarket headlights.....which came with a gang of aftermarket accent lights....most of which were junk (in my opinion) So, I removed them, added what I knew would be better, converted the High Beam area to a fake projector, added Dual LED Halos and Dual Demon Eyes which are on a wireless keyfob and painted everything Matte Black....turned out great. The amount of work that was needed to fit the fake projector in place was intense...but it's never been done before, so I'm all for something a bit outta the norm! Kippy's EvoX has always been on my 'To-Do' list for headlights. I worked on this car a few years ago, doing the Audio, Visual and 'other' electronic updates.
Well, since ISS Utah 2014 was only a few days away, I figured I might as well get this one knocked out so I'd have another vehicle to show off some of the things I can do with headlights to the Utah crowd. EvoX-R Bi-Xenon Projector Upgrade with Clear Etched Lens Fake 2nd Projector with Clear Etched Lens and Super Bright LED for DRLs Dual Demon Eye Accent Lighting Matte Black Internal Painting Client of mine from down in Arizona sent another set of CTS-V lights for some modifications.
Here is what I did: Custom 'V' Logo Etched into Black Series Clear Lens Clear Lens Custom mounted and Spaced Red Demon Eye Lighting to Accent 'V' Logo Super Bright White Plasma Halo around OEM Projector Internals Blacked Out to match Pearl Metallic Black Customer called me for a headlight upgrade.......because the front of her 300C was mangled during a wreck...and the cost of her expensive OEM HID Projectors were VERY expensive....plus she wanted to modify the new lights....so here is what we did:
New Passenger Side Headlights New Passenger Side Valeo Ballast New D1S Morimoto HID Bulbs New Clear Lenses for OEM Projectors Oracle Vehicle Specific Plasma Halo Kit Morimoto LED Plasma Strips Switchback module for Halo's to turn off when turn signals activated Matte Black Internal Paint After tweaking the OEM projectors...I was able to achieve a MUCH better cutoff and the new bulbs really changed the output of the projectors. Too bad that AAC/Oracle can't get their quality control.....under control....and match their own kit's colors....but whatever....customer was happy. Client from out of town brought his Dodge Dart up for some driving light upgrades.
Dodge did a pretty good job on these Bi-Xenon Projectors as OEM lighting modules...except one thing...they left out the HID part......nothing Trax can't handle. Main Headlight Upgrade - 5000K 35watt Morimoto DSP Elite HID System - 9006 Fog Light Upgrade - 5000K 35watt Morimoto DSP Elite HID System - H11 This produced a substantial upgrade in the night-time driving experience! Client brought in her 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a pretty cool project.
The Dealership told her she had HIDs and after some digging we were able to determine that she does not :) So she wanted HIDs everywhere, blacked out headlights and smoked taillights....from there, I started adding little bits and pieces to make this one unique. Here is what I did: Smoked Taillights Morimoto 35 watt Low beam and Fog light HID systems Blacked Out Internal Headlight Plasma XB LED Strip in open slot in headlight bezel Custom Tweaked and Spaced OEM Projector 3" FX-R Clear Lens Swap The Valeo projectors aren't known for having the best cutoff, but after some tweaking and spacing....with the 3" FXR lens, this baby looked great.....very sharp and focused cutoff. Then add the Morimoto HIDs and BAM....better than any OEM Jeep out there....and the 1st of it's kind for this year. The Plasma LED strip made these lights look SICK.....very menacing and futuristic. Now she can clearly see at night and with all the chrome and red gone...this vehicle is sure to turn some heads! A friend brought in her Dodge Ram to get some new lights put on....here is what we did:
Morimoto MiniD2S Square Bi-Xenon Projectors w/ Trax etched in the lens Blue Demon Eyes on wireless remote control Morimoto 35 watt Elite HID kit New aftermarket headlights and smoked taillights BMW X5 LED Foglights The new square projectors put out some serious light and have a great cutoff....plus the new square lens is PERFECT for vehicles that have straight lines in the front. The BMW X5 foglights are not something you can just install on anything, as they are OEM off of the BMW, so I had to fabricate a bracket to fit them in there....but it looks as if they belong perfectly......that and these are EASILY the WIDEST light I've ever seen...these throw out a gnarly beam pattern that will beat any projector's coverage in the Width-Department. After completing the Tri-Halo GMC Sierra build, a good buddy of mine wanted something unique for his truck using the same technology.....so instead of circles, I went with straight lines in the XBLed Plasma Strip line.
These badboys are crazy bright White for Running Lights Amber for Turn Signals Client from Montana sent me down his 2013 Toyota Tacoma headlights to be upgraded to HID Bi-Xenon Projectors. On the menu were some TYC Headlights, 2.5" FX-R Bi-Xenon Projector with Clear Lens, Morimoto 5000k 50 watt HID Bulbs, Morimoto 50 watt DSP Ballasts, Apollo V2.0 Shrouds with Super Bright White XBled Halos and internals Matte Blacked out!
Good buddy of Trax wanted to update his headlights.....he wanted halos but wasn't sure to what extent.
After some thinking, since the headlights aren't necessarily the best shape to work with, we cam up with a few unique ideas. A) Use some products that aren't out yet (White-on-White Plasma XBLed Halos) B) Delete Turn Signal Bulb, Add XBLed Halo for Turn Signal C) Make that biotch a switchback and hide it behind another halo. D) Matte Black the side orange markers No stacking going on there....custom switchback white-to-amber turn signals for the bottom halo set, then two halos up top. These new White-on-White XBLed plasma halos are stupid bright...just check out the last pic! Even used one of my new Chrome Trax logo stickers in the turn signal area...can't ever really tell it's there....pretty cool. Our buddies down at KPE in Arizona sent us another set of Cadillac CTS-V headlights to modify.
This one had a quick turn-around time so we are only able to black out the lights...not adding anything this time. These lights are sick when they are blacked out. The owner of Heretic Studios (producers of badass LED bars) sent me his Mercedes Benz E55 AMG headlights for a little restoration and blackout-age.
These are easily the worst lenses I've had to attempt to restore. Painting wasn't too hard, had to repair a broken projector mount that was either existing or happen during shipping, and then clean up a few years of insects and dust inside. After I shot some Low Gloss Black on everything, I sealed them back up and shipped them to my painter to wet sand and clear coat the lenses......MUCH better improvement over what I had given him. His shop tech asked exactly what I was doing with them as he couldn't even tell they were painted....they were that bad. These were so bad that I had to REOPEN them to give the inside lens another quick rub down (yuuup).....so here they are. Introducing Project Darkside.....this is another Pontiac Solstice customization, but with a goal of making it look as if GM wanted to re-introduce a concept car....so everything is futuristic and LED-goodness.
This post is showing the headlights...here is what I used: JW Speaker LED Projector Headlights - Evolution 8700 series exLED Dual Color Halos exLED Switchback Modules Fiberglass....yup.....Fiberglass |
