We get this quite a lot, but clients/friends think their 'project' is too small for us to care to do for them......NONSENSE!
No job is too big or too small for us to do. In this case...it was both.... It was Too big to fit into my garage.....but the install was super simple. Customer provided me with a cheaper eBay HID kit that claimed to have everything needed....but since I've been doing this for over 10 years now, I knew the $50 special didn't have what the JEEP Needed....but that's why you come to the expert! Had him on his way in a matter of minutes with his new, blinding, non-focused HID headlights :-D This is a reminder.....yes, HIDs may be bright and cool....but it's not cool when you put them on OEM Halogen headlights....ESPECIALLY when it's lifted. Good lookin' Jeep tho! Had a pretty interesting project another dealership brought me.
Client digs Superman and just bought a brand new truck....a good buddy of mine at the dealership told him what I can do and how we can make these unique enough to stand out in the crowd....so here is what we did: Full Gloss Black Internal Paint 'Superman' logo Etched into OEM Projector Glass Switchback LED Turn Signal Upgrade Neo Prism Dual Halos Neo Prism Demon Eyes Neo Prism Custom Interior Acknowledgment light in AC Vent Having an acknowledgment light on the inside is KEY when you do anything RGB or NeoPrism related....as you can't see what your headlights are doing....this way, the owner can simply look at his Vent and he'll know what his headlights are doing....pretty trick, and you wouldn't be able to tell anything was added when the lights are off. These ones turned out pretty sick! Here's our first of MANY trucks being built for local dealerships....this one is a 2016 chevrolet 2500 and we're installing:
5 inch zone lift kit 35x12.50 20 cooper tires 20x10 0 offset fuel rims Rigid 50" night force curved bar Everything on this truck is a perfect upgrade to an already amazing vehicle and looks as if it should come that way....even the lightbar, which has a smoked lens on it, blends into the truck and sits low enough that it's not classified as a 'BroBar' (don't be that guy....it's like a massive wing on a car....but on a truck.....not cool) A client came to us after he moved up here from Florida. Super cool dude, but has just had the runaround on everything done to his truck and hasn't satisfied with any of it.
This is going to be a 2-part build...as I'm going to build him some custom headlights to replace the monstrosities that he has currently installed. This go-around Ryan is up first. Here is what we put on: 4.5 rough country lift kit 2.5 fox coil over front shocks 2.0 fox rear shocks Nfab tube bumper 40" Curved LED Light Bar Nitto 35x12.50 20 Fuel 2 piece 20 rims Amp research drop steps This definitely updated the look of the truck and the owner was stoked to have it done. Next up...headlights.....if I ever get some free time! Friend of mine brought over his motorcycle for some minor light work.
He'd laid it over accidentally in his driveway and damaged his side blinker.....that's all it took for him to realize he needed some 'Trax-izing' on it. I proposed that we completely remove the stupid looking pods and add 2 switchback LED strips.....for 1. He'd have a more updated look and 2. The action of switching back and forth between White and Amber when he's turning will grab more attention...which is something all bikers need. Simple upgrade-ish (there is a mess of wires that needed to be done up in the headlight) for a more futuristic look Client brought in his BMW for a Halo Install.
He kept seeing all the new BMWs out there with at least dimly lit halos...and he wanted to join the gang.....well here at Trax Customs...we don't do 'Dim" Now he's apart of the higher-end crowd that you can see the halos from a block away without issues! Umnitza Super Bright Quad Halos were the ticket on this one! Returning Client brought back in his truck shortly after we installed a nice leveling kit on it (we've done a fully amplied system in this one too)
This time around we're doing some lighting mods. New Housings Mini D2S Bi-Xenon Projector Osram Xenarc CBI VIP Bulb Upgrade Full Morimotor HID Kit Panamera LED DRL shrouds Custom Switch for LEDs Client brought in his Caddy CTS for a mega light overhaul.
Here's what we did Headlights: Bi-Xenon Projector in High Beam spot with custom reverse shroud Dual RGB Halos Dual RGB Demon Eyes Mega Demon Eye bulb in OEM Low Beam spot Quad Super Bright LED Strips accenting internal headlight/foglight lines Cadillac Logo etched into Projector Lens Matte Black Internal Paint Foglights: Baja Designs Wide Cornering Squadron Sport Pod Retrofitted Custom Eclipse Shroud made to hide LED Pod Matte Black Internal Paint Client wanted to make his CTS look like newer Caddies at night....I think we achieved that look; as his vertical LED strips are brighter than most 2016's on the road! Every now and again I'll get a build I'm stoked for....this was one of them.
Here are the build items: Carbon Fiber Hydrographics RX350 Bi-Xenon Projectors tuned with Black Series Clear Lenses Osram CBI D2S Bulbs Morimoto Ballasts and Wiring Red LED Demon Eyes Porsche Panamera LED Shrouds with Custom LED Halo Upgrade Custom Fiberglass Back Patch These are what I should have on my car, being a retrofitter. These are considered VIP headlights in my opinion, because they are using the best of the best in projectors and bulbs...only thing that could be upgraded would be the ballasts to some Denso Quick-Fires. The RX350 projectors are fairly gnarly, in the fact that they are larger on the back end than most....so I had to make a fiberglass rear cover so make sure everything was water proof. These looked sick on my bench and even sicker on the customer car! Built these for a customer in Tennessee per his specifications and they turned out great.
My painter wasn't too happy with my request to get 'detailed' with them....but he knocked it out of the park as usual! I also started testing the magical chemical properties of hydro-chlorine vs Cheap Chrome on projector shrouds...and it is awesome! This is the first set of headlights in the GMC Sierra platform I did for the local dealership we started hooking up.
So this was an introduction into the gnarly arm workout that are these Sierra Perma-Sealed headlights.....they are somewhat easy to work with...but SUUUUUUCK so bad to do....but that's what I'm know for, so i do it. These ones got a simple Paint Job, Amber Removal and RGB Demon Eyes...simple enough When your new LED headlights are brighter than your 'light bar' and bumper 'light pods'....you then can start appreciating Quality-over-Quantity.
Did this somewhat simple upgrade on a very good friends Jeep. JW Speaker makes some of the best LED replacement headlights on the market...plus they just look badass! Hence, why I'm rockin' a set on Project Earl Grey! Teamed up with a Local Dealership here in town and we're starting to introduce truck owners to 'modified headlights'.
These were on a set of 'street edition' Dodge headlights and needed Blacked Out Paint with Red Demon Eyes...quick and simple! When a customer wants cool headlights....but doesn't want fully retrofitted one, I often modify eBay lights to give them best of both worlds.
These ones were 'shelf'd' for a while since they were a budget build...and well....I'm horrible at time-management! Either way, in the end...they turned out pretty badass....plus, linear light will never get old in my book....follow the lines and don't add light where there shouldn't be light, and you'll have a good look! Buddy of mine brought in his Ford to get a light bar thrown on and wired up....he also wanted his auxiliary lighting switch panel installed....so, I did that and now he can see everything!
Told you he'd be back!
Good client brought his Toyota Tacoma back for more lighting.....while working on everything else, I finished up retrofitting his fog light housings with some Morimoto MatchBox Mini projectors (with bi-xenon shields removed). Over Christmas break, we were talking and he was ready to upgrade to an even BETTER light bar in addition to his Heretic 20" light bar.....so......naturally I opted for my premium performance brand, Baja Design. Jesse had already located some brackets made specifically for his truck and had them on their way (even thought he'll need to have them powder coated later). We went with Baja Designs 50" Curved OnX6 Driving/Spot Combo bar and HOLY CRAP...this bar is insane! Uber amounts of light output on this thing. I also wired up his fog lights now that they were done...and even put Red Demon Eye Accent lights in them on a strobing/dimming wireless control module. I installed 4 switches in his center console....1 for Baja, 1 For Heretic and 1 for future. The Chrome button is for Baja's Unique 'strobe' effect built into the uber bar.....for when someone REALLY pisses you off, you can simply/safely send them into an epileptic seizure with the flick of a button. This truck will have no problem seeing animals and road issues while driving back-n-forth from North Dakota to Idaho. Good buddy of mine brought in another set of GMC Sierra headlights to get that 'finishing' touch done.
This time, instead of just blacking out the internals, we added a simple Demon Eye mod to them....with some Active Blue LED Lighting for Show. This truck got some pretty sick Blue Accent lighting throughout as well....performed by the dealer/accessories Dept. A past client and I have been talking about this build for over a year and it's finally starting.
I've had the car for over 2 months now, and with parts ordered and arriving, I was finally able to start on it slowly over the last few weeks. This build will take a month or so to complete....well....because I'm a 1-man army and only get a few hours each week-night to work on it....the it's weekend party-time in the shop! Here is EVERYTHING I'm doing to it: Complete Headlight Retrofit with FXR Bi-Xenon Upgrade Dummy Projector Demon Eyes Full Exterior and Interior LED Swap/Upgrade Escort Passport Full Radar Installation iPhone 6+ Integration (will run his entire audio setup as well as air-ride) iStreamer Audio Output Audio Control Matrix Plus Integration Module Arc Audio 4 channel and Mono Amplifiers Arc Audio 'Arc Series' Components Arc Audio 'Arc Series' Coaxials Arc Audio 'Arc Series' Subwoofers Full Fiberglass Rear Seat Area for the Subwoofers and Air-Ride Setup Entire Vehicle Sound Deadening via Audio Technix/CT-Sounds Accuair Air-Ride System AirLift Performance Series Air Bags Accuair eLevel Air Management System Accuair iLevel Smartphone Integration Air Zenith Uber Compressor Full Interior Swap/Upgrade/Finish Misc Fix/Repair Items Throughout Finish Rear Trunk Area So...that's about it :) Here is my first photodump of the sound deadening Client brought in his truck for a 'quick' install before I realized it was going to be a much longer process.
Here is what he brought in: 35watt Morimoto 4300k Low Beam HIDs 55watt Morimoto 3000k Fog Light HIDs Morimoto MatchBox Mini Projectors for the Fog Lights Fog Light Housings Anzo Aftermarket Projectors Aftermarket LED Strip Lights (Switchback White and Amber) The HIDs were self explanatory...but the Fog Lights just don't simply 'go in'...I have to retrofit them......SOOOOOOO I installed a Heretic LED LITE-Series Light Bar instead and told him to bring the truck back when I get the fogs retrofitted. This thing was bright! Customer brought in an led lightbar that he bought from an online store and needed it mounted.
He has plans of mounting another bar up top so this one needed to go somewhere lower. I custom welded a bracket to make it fit centered in the front lower grill area and I hid the mounting brackets the best I could via the OEM grill cover. Met a friend of a friend that just happened to own Boise Cycle Pub and he expressed the need to stand out in the crowded downtown night life.
What we came up with for Phase 1 was White accent lighting under the drink holder area and RGB (color changing Red Green and Blue) LED strips up top. The white strips are on a simple ON/OFF switch and the RGBs, since they need to be controlled and told what to do/be, are on a wireless fob as well as full access via a smartphone or tablet...pretty cool. This thing is BRIGHT....and Phase 2 will include audio...so it'll be even better! Client of mine from down in Arizona sent another set of CTS-V lights for some modifications.
Here is what I did: Custom 'V' Logo Etched into Black Series Clear Lens Clear Lens Custom mounted and Spaced Red Demon Eye Lighting to Accent 'V' Logo Super Bright White Plasma Halo around OEM Projector Internals Blacked Out to match Pearl Metallic Black Customer called me for a headlight upgrade.......because the front of her 300C was mangled during a wreck...and the cost of her expensive OEM HID Projectors were VERY expensive....plus she wanted to modify the new lights....so here is what we did:
New Passenger Side Headlights New Passenger Side Valeo Ballast New D1S Morimoto HID Bulbs New Clear Lenses for OEM Projectors Oracle Vehicle Specific Plasma Halo Kit Morimoto LED Plasma Strips Switchback module for Halo's to turn off when turn signals activated Matte Black Internal Paint After tweaking the OEM projectors...I was able to achieve a MUCH better cutoff and the new bulbs really changed the output of the projectors. Too bad that AAC/Oracle can't get their quality control.....under control....and match their own kit's colors....but whatever....customer was happy. A friend brought in her Dodge Ram to get some new lights put on....here is what we did:
Morimoto MiniD2S Square Bi-Xenon Projectors w/ Trax etched in the lens Blue Demon Eyes on wireless remote control Morimoto 35 watt Elite HID kit New aftermarket headlights and smoked taillights BMW X5 LED Foglights The new square projectors put out some serious light and have a great cutoff....plus the new square lens is PERFECT for vehicles that have straight lines in the front. The BMW X5 foglights are not something you can just install on anything, as they are OEM off of the BMW, so I had to fabricate a bracket to fit them in there....but it looks as if they belong perfectly......that and these are EASILY the WIDEST light I've ever seen...these throw out a gnarly beam pattern that will beat any projector's coverage in the Width-Department. |
