He'd previously upgraded the OEM Low Beam bulbs to higher powered Halogens and then replaced the super rare H15 High Beams/DRL bulbs to LEDs.
All of which did more harm than good...simply because he couldn't see anything whilst driving....especially when High Beams were needed.
So, for Round 1 (because he's going to be back for a full blown retrofit now that he knows what's possible) we are upgrading his Low beams to HIDs and retrofitting in some LED bulbs into the high beam area....because no-one makes an H15 HID bulb yet.
Install was pretty straight forward....Used Morimoto bulbs and had to custom adapt them to fit the H7s in the housings and then Hylux Ballasts were used in conjunction with some Can-Bus resistors to make sure everything worked with the Benz's complex electrical system.
The H15 LED bulbs were supplied by the customer and the reason he didn't install them was because the back fan was MUCH larger than what would fit in the oem cap/cover on the backside. So with some slight modifications and a rear cup-kit....the bulbs fit and everything clears without presenting any moisture issues.
Overall, the client was stoked with the output and can now drive safely at night.
I can't wait to get this one back in for a retrofit.....it will look killer with a dual projectors and two-tone internal paint!
