This go around, instead of the usual MASSIVE subwoofer setup, we went with a very nice high-level system to overall play very loud and clear....but not rattle his doors off....although this one can slap if needed.
Here is what I put in:
Arc Audio XDi 1200.6 6 Channel Amplifier
Arc Audio ARC 6.2 Component Speakers (Front)
Arc Audio ARC 692 Coaxial Speakers (Rear)
Arc Audio ARC 10 Dual 10" Subwoofers in Ported Box
Pretty simple setup.....but everything just installed in the optimal locations without going too overboard.
I removed the Factory JBL amplifier and in its place I installed the front Arc Crossovers....so I didn't have to cram them into the door panels somewhere....this will allow for future tweaking of sound ease.
The Front woofers we converted from the OEM 6x9s to the 6.5" mids and then I later added some sound deadner to help them out a bit.
The Front tweets were replacing the factory 3" tweeters with the assistance of a hand cut ABS bracket.
The rears were pretty difficult to fit in there...because the size of the magnet verses what came OEM.....but after some bracketry wizardry, I got them to fit.
The 6 channel amp is very small for how much power it puts out (150x4 and 600x1)....so I decided to built a vertical overhand mount and run everything up and out of the way so there is no room lost in the trunk.
This also helps to keep things hidden out of sight.
The subs sit perfectly in a standard Dual Slot Ported Box....with quick disconnects so he can remove the box if more space is needed.
Playing some electronic music on this setup is a dream...you can hear how well the digital sound is suuuuper clear and precise.
Playing live music on it and you're able to pick out where each artist is on stage and hear background screams and cheers.
Overall...this is an ideal setup.....super clean/clear highs, really good mids and enough lows to do some damage...but not enough to call too much attention to yourself. Only thing this is missing is some sound deadening....but I think that'll be a future add-on.
