Client brought in a BMW-specific halo kit his buddy told him would fit his car...because his buddy bought the same thing and knows it'll work.
What his buddy didn't take into account was that the clients car is actually newer than his, and YES, while it was still an E46, the 2006's got a facelift and the headlights dramatically changed.....so the kit was WAYYYY off.
Instead of sending it back, I told the guy I was confident that I'd be able to make it fit.
This was supposed to be a simple 1 hour deal.
4 hours later this beemer now looks more modern and up to date!
The new facelift, besides changing up how the headlights come OUT of the car also means the lenses aren't as easy to get off.....no problem for me...but most might stop there.
Once open, I was able to verify that YES...these would NOT fit without a ton of modifications.
After Dr.Emel and I went to town, we got both halos to fit as best as possible within the tight confines of the headlights and got them all wired up and looking good.
This is one of those cases where you wouldn't really notice anything was done to the headlights....because...well....BMW....but they integrate pretty well. Only people that look at headlights will recognize the differences.
So....yes....you can have nice things...you just sometimes have to cut everything else all to hell to make them fit!
